So here we are, having hurdled right past that 6mo mark. My how time has flown. It seems only yesterday that I was worried I wasn't ready for her because she was coming early. Aska amazes me everyday by how much she learns and grows and becomes her own little person. She has her little diva days when mom just wants to rip her hair out (along with the hair she already pulls out for me) and then there are the days when it's just me and her and all is right with the world. Nap times go by without a hitch and bedtime sails by like a breeze. Those are the days I live for :-)
Every day I see her do a little something that just makes me marvel at the little person I helped to create. For instance, yesterday she pulled herself up to a stand in her crib! I couldn't believe it but she did it right in front of my eyes. I came in to get her from her nap and she just pulled her little self right up and smiled at me. My first thought was WOW! I can't believe you're doing this already. My second thought was, OK almost time to lower the mattress. Today she crawled about three feet while I was making her lunch. I left her on her play mat and went into the kitchen to make her lunch. She fussed for a second because I left her but then she got quiet. I decided to peek around the corner of the counter and there she was next to the swing, with her head lifted at me as to say, look at what I did mom! It looked as if she was coming to find me in the kitchen. I was so proud of her. Immediate thought thereafter was, crap! I have to get on this baby proofing thing. Aw man! *in my Swiper voice* (Can you say too much Dora?)
My little lady is also such a good eater. She's only given me an issue with two things, bananas and turkey. I gave her some turkey, baby food turkey, for Thanksgiving and after a few spoonfuls she gagged as if she was choking (she was not, I checked) then promptly turned her head and refused to eat another spoonful of the stuff! I had never seen her turn away food like that, nor had I ever seen a baby gag because she didn't like the taste of her meal. Oh man, what a little diva, lol! Everything else fruits, veggies, cereals goes down like a champ. I'm such a happy mommy.
We recently were gifted a bouncer and she loves it! The first day she played in it she bounced herself to sleep. It was so precious. She's becoming more independent now wanting some playtime alone where she can play on the floor with just her and her toys. It makes me both sad and happy. Happy because she's growing and learning and giving me a little break and sad because she's growing and letting me know she needs me just a little less.
She loves her bath time. She has learned to splash and play and really enjoy the bath as an extension of playtime. She has never given me any trouble when it comes to bath time whether it be going in or coming out. She's such a joy to bathe right now. We get the business out of the way and then she gets to splash. She plays with her little ducky and she's happy as a clam.
Ok, this is my last momma brag moment, but she has almost gotten the bye bye wave down. It's so cute. She really just waves to herself but she's learning what it means. Oh yeah, and my baby is a genius. She gives me high 5's all the time. No really I mean it. I ask her for a high five and she happily slaps my hand. What a little Einstein I have :-) Ok, it's a reach but it pleases me all the same.
So I'm going to wrap this up and try to enjoy a few hours of sleep before we start this whole crazy train all over again. On this and every day, I'm blessed, grateful and I thank God for my life.
