I just realized that my last post was December! Ok, so I've been a bit lax when it comes to maintaining my blog. Forgive me please.
We have now moved on to regular adult food. This has been an experiment. The first time out of the gate that I cooked something for her, she surely disapproved and showed me by taking it out of her mouth and dropping it on the floor. Well I was not discouraged, I was intrepid and I tried, tried again. Success!!! She is the best eater. She loves everything food related. I have been able to give her new things, even things that I won't eat such as refried beans and she eats it all like a champ! I have been trying to make sure that I give her healthy things and limit junk. I am really diligent about what I want her to eat when it comes to sugary and salty foods. She impresses me with her willingness to indulge her momma when it comes to her diet. Latest things on her menu have been: various casseroles with cheese and chicken and rice, lentils with veggies, homemade blueberries and cream oatmeal, strawberry and blueberry yogurt parfaits, zucchini bread, fresh cherries, sweet potato fries, alphabet soups, ham and turkey with cream cheese on thin whole wheat buns, whole wheat buttermilk pancakes and scrambled eggs, grilled veggies and chicken, etc. The list could really go on. I just am so proud of my adventurous eater. Well it's adventurous for a toddler. I am going to enjoy this lack of pickiness for as long as I possibly can.

The older she gets the more she becomes mommy's little friend. She goes with me everywhere. I can take her shopping, out to eat, and to the movies. She is well behaved and is a pleasure to be around. I am always getting stopped so that people can admire her and she plays coy and gives them a smile. She just makes me so proud to be her mom and I thank God for the blessing that she is.
Well, so much has happened in the last 8 months. My angel turned 1 year old! She is growing by leaps and bounds and continues to amaze me with just how much she learns and how fast she learns it. She is my little wonder. Since the last post she is walking and dancing and starting to talk. She knows a few words that she exercises daily. Thankfully none of them are no; although she finds subtle and not so subtle non verbal ways of expressing this to me each day. Her current favorites are, "mama", "daddy", "tata" (Polish for daddy), "look!", bye bye", "baby", "baba" (short for babcia which is Polish for grandma), "da" or dog, and "Dustin" which is code for her Uncle Justin. She had a short dalliance with "oh shit" thankfully that has seemed to pass. I honestly have no idea where she would have picked that one up *quickly averts eyes*.
In addition to talking, she loves music and loves to dance. Whenever one of her favorite songs comes on television she immediately stops whatever she is doing and just dances with wild abandon. I have yet to capture a good video of this, well a video of her dancing that I like. Current favorites on the play list are: The Backyardigan's opening and closing theme; Team Umizoomi opening theme; Ni Hao, Kai Lan opening theme; Jack's Big Music Show opening theme; Yo Gabba Gabba opening theme; and "Here We Go" by The Fresh Beat Band. I know it seems like all I let my kid do is watch Nick Jr., but it really just plays in the background while we play and eat and do things. Out of all of those, the Fresh Beat Band song is by far her all time favorite. Her dad and I just laugh and smile whenever she starts dancing to this song. She is by far at her most enthusiastic when it comes on. Watching her dance, I wonder, where do babies learn to dance the way they do. It then occurs to me that they just let their bodies do what they feel when the music stirs them. I wish adults were more like that. Open and immune to what other people think when something joyful stirs their soul.
